q. What is FixMate®?
a. Established in 1998, FixMate® assists in the complex process of owning and managing your home. We are an independent information resource and advocacy organization. This site has grown to be the most comprehensive Home Repair, Renovation, and Management portal for all things home related.

q. Who is FixMate® meant to help?
a. FixMate® is here for both Homeowners and Building Professionals. FixMate® assists Homeowners with the daunting challenge of repairing and maintaining their homes. FixMate® is also an independent, advocacy organization helping Building Professionals manage their operations in a fair and profitable manner. We help Homeowners through the FixMate® Home Club™ and Home Service Professionals enjoy our assistance through the FixMate® Contractor Club™.

q. How is FixMate® different from other directories?
a. Companies listed on FixMate® earn their ratings honestly and objectively. They cannot buy their way to the top of the list. The ratings are based on real people involved with real work. You can be sure that the information is fair, objective, and most of all, useful.

q. What type of Home Services and Categories are covered in the FixMate® directory?
a. We try to be as complete and comprehensive as possible. There are over 130 Categories in the directory (click here to go to the directory). If there is something you don't see, please let us know (click here to send a message).

q. How are FixMate® Contractors rated?
a. The professionals in the FixMate® directory are assigned one of 4 ratings:
1. FixMate® nada™
2. FixMate® verified™
3. FixMate® bonafide™
4. FixMate® caution

q. How are the companies in the FixMate® directory displayed?
a. To help quickly identify the FixMate® rating for a particular company, each level is displayed in a special way. A FixMate® verified™ company is shown in black, FixMate® bonafide™ is royal blue, and FixMate® caution is displayed as amber yellow.

q. How do you make sure the reviews are real and fair?
a. All reviews are monitored and screened before they are put up on the site. This is not a site that automatically dumps information on the screen. We strive to ensure the information is fair and accurate.

q. Does FixMate® allow advertising on the site?
a. You will notice that there are no ads plastered on our pages. You are not being bombarded with advertising. This is done on purpose. We respect you and want to provide our information in a clean and unbiased manner. Yes, there are indeed ads, informative ads. They are there only where and when you want to check them out. You are encouraged to have a look. You can find them easily in the exclusive ad section (click here to go there). This gives the FixMate® Contractor Club™ Members an opportunity to tell you more about themselves and what they do.

q. What are the different FixMate® Home Club™ Membership Categories?
a. There are 2 membership levels: BASIC MEMBERSHIP and FULL MEMBERSHIP. Click here to go to the page that lists the member benefits for each level.

q. How much does a FixMate® Home Club™ Membership cost?
a. There is no charge for the BASIC MEMBERSHIP. Click here to sign up for the Basic Membership. The cost for the FULL MEMBERSHIP is nominal. Click here to see the costs and to sign up for the Full Membership.

q. How do I request the services of a contractor or home service professional?
a. Placing a request is both easy and free. Click here to Request a Contractor.

q. Once I Request a Contractor, what can I expect?
a. You should be contacted in your chosen manner (by phone or email) by the number of companies you selected. The goal is to have this take place in less than 48 hours. If this does not happen, contact FixMate® so that we can make it right.

q. Who hires the Contractor?
a. You, the Home Club™ Member, hires the Contractor directly, whether the Contractor came from a "Request a Contractor" submission or your selection from the FixMate® Contractor Directory. Remember, while FixMate® helps you with identifying possible Contractors, you still need to ensure that you select properly and carefully for your needs. Always make sure that you are covered with a proper written contract and get your own
legal advice whenever you are unsure of yourself or when you are dealing with big projects.

q. How does the Contractor get paid?
a. You pay the Contractor directly according to the way that is decided before the work begins. The Contractor is hired by you and paid by you. There are no commissions or finder's fees ("kick backs") paid between the Contractor and FixMate®. Nothing goes on under the table when dealing with FixMate®.
